Women who are underweight (BMI less than 20 have an increased risk of not ovulating and having amenorrhea (no period). A BMI lower than 19 has been determined to increase time to conception fourfold.
BMI greater than 35 in women increases the time to conception twofold; while creating greater risks of miscarriage and complications during pregnancy, delivery and post- partum.
